An initially minor member of Myst’s demi-wolf pack, Darius plays an important role in Book Four. Once an ordinary wolf, Darius was found and uplifted by the demi-wolf Myst, and turned into a soldier in her campaign against abusive humans.
A soldier at his core who’s loyal to his Alpha and the Cause, Darius will soon display just how far loyalty can go, and how it’s not always a good thing to be undyingly loyal to someone.
Appearance
Darius is a demi-wolf; an canine uplifted into a human-wolf hybrid. A bipedal wolf capable of going on all fours, he stands at six feet, six inches tall, with dark brown fur and heterochromatic eyes – one green and one blue. He wears a dark vest with angel wings on the back, and is almost never seen without either a crossbow or a bow and arrow, as he is the pack sniper.
Concept art also has him with a scar around one of his eyes, implying that the eye in question is a replacement for an original eye lost in battle.
Backstory
Darius started off as a simple German Shepherd, in charge of managing sheep and farm animals. Unfortunately, he lived under an abusive owner who regularly took Darius for granted.
As such, he was easily seen as a victim by the demi-wolf Myst, who rescued him from his abusive owner and uplifted him to gain a new and better life. Though he wasn’t the biggest or the strongest, Myst was able to work with him and even helped him develop skill in sharpshooting.
Appreciating Myst’s patience and kindness, Darius became undyingly loyal to her, and harbors a secret crush on his savior as he strives to uphold her work and keep wolfkind safe.
Abilities
- Being a demi-wolf, he has speed befitting an actual wolf, being able to keep up with prey and run for long periods of time without tiring.
- He’s also very agile and a natural climber, able to get into trees and climb up staggering peaks and cliffs.
- His primary skill is sharpshooting, as he’s a deadly shot with a crossbow or a bow and arrow.
- Expert hunter: he’s one of the pack’s best trackers, and his nose can sniff out almost any kind of prey.
Personality
Darius is a soldier first and foremost; his objective is to protect his pack and serve his Alpha, which remains Myst even after changes in leadership.
He has a snarky side to him, and enjoys making wisecracks when the timing is appropriate, though he also can get frustrated when things aren’t going the way he wants them to. He’s also very defensive of his private thoughts, as Celine found out the hard way in Book Three when she accidentally intruded on his thoughts.
Though that might be because, despite his attempts to maintain a tough outer appearance, he is a bit of a romantic at heart, who desires to charm a strong and beautiful lady to be his mate. Which might be difficult, as he’s rather insecure about how he’s not the strongest or most muscular pack mate around.
Nevertheless, he intends to always be there for the oens he loves, and will attempt to uphold their legacy even when they are no longer around.

- Darius is based on Garrus Vakarian from Mass Effect, as well as Daryl Dixon from Walking Dead.
- This can be glimpsed in how his name – Darius – is an amalgamation of ‘Dar’ from ‘Daryl’, and ‘us’ from ‘Garrus’.
