Appearance

Smith is a five foot, one inch human with dirty blonde hair and green eyes.

He’s described as being rather rotund, with a ‘belly that jiggles merrily when he laughs’.

Backstory

Smith is mainly an average citizen, albeit one with a love for food and entertainment. The latter interest led him to become the director of theater, with a knack for story-telling.

After Myst‘s attack on humans got too close to his home, Smith packed his things and left for the Human Sanctuary of Wolf’s Bane, which was said to be protected from not just demi-wolf attacks, but the manipulations of the mysterious and ominous King Connors.

Smith would reach his destination, and set up a life for himself. But on the way, he’d discover a baby dragon who would end up changing his entire life.

Abilities

  • Story-telling and theater directing – Smith is very passionate about his stories, and brought his adopted daughter up to believe very strongly in the power of a good story.

Personality

Conceptually, Smith is very loud and forward while in director mode, quick to offer critiques and not standing for imperfections.

However, the part of him that his adopted daughter knows is a loving, if still rather paranoid and stern father figure, who takes her safety very seriously, and does his best to impart that strictness in a way she understands.

He’s not a perfect father, and he’ll be the first to admit it, but he does want what’s best for his daughter, and will try to give her a good life all the same.

Trivia

  • Smith is partially based on an actual cat the author owned for 18 years, also named Smith.
  • The reference to the author’s cat is displayed in an inverse: the author found his cat on the side of the road just like how Smith finds Wing on the side of the road as well.
  • Smith was also originally depicted with more traits reminiscent of Wario from Super Mario Bros, being a bit more greedy and self-centered. However, these traits were pushed to the side in order to help sell him having a good relationship with Wing, but are more prominent in an alternate version of him that can be found on the Storyboard Forums.
