The fifth installment of the ‘Of Scales and Fur’ saga, the story focuses on Kodo and Blaze, both former antagonists of the previous installments, as they have lost everything as the result of their actions, and hope to find some method of atonement, whether that be through the protection of the innocent, or hunting down those they deem to be the root of their problems.
Synopsis
Broken. Ashamed. Disgraced. These are the words that describe Kodo and Blaze when this story begins.
Kodo; imprisoned for crimes against humanity, and experimented on to discover the darkest secrets of his pack link. Secrets he had used in the pursuit of ultimately selfish goals.
Blaze: crippled and treated as trash by those who used to fear her. Alone in the world, with the one she saw as a father dead by Kodo’s hand.
Worst of all, both know exactly what has brought them to this point in their life. Through the decisions they’ve made, they’ve gone from being considered the best of their communities to being the worst. Either because they trusted the wrong people or made the wrong decisions.
However, for Kodo, a chance for atonement rears its head when the thief Kyle Hardy asks for his aid in escaping their shared prison. In doing so, Kodo may find some form of redemption by pushing the boundaries of what true family entails, learn the difference between what is lawful and what is ethical, and brave both hunters and his own self-doubt to get an innocent soul to safety.
Unfortunately, not all hunters will be easy to overcome. For when word of Kodo’s escape reaches Blaze, she will find the inner strength to power past her handicaps, reunite old allies, and shine a faded light onto very dark secrets as she hunts down the man who crippled her, eager to pay him back in kind.

- This story was inspired by the video game ‘The Last of Us – Part Two‘, which focuses on the journeys of two women seeking revenge. John N. King read several reviews surrounding controversial ideas explored in the video game, and gained ideas of his own based off said reviews and suggestions for an improved game plot that he incorporated into his own story. Only time will tell if his ideas can be executed in a way that will be appealing to the audience.
