Appearance

Bai Long is a five inch, seven foot human with dark hair and blue eyes. His features are smooth and rather handsome.

Though (SPOILERS FOR BOOK THREE), he is later burned, reducing his hair to dead white, and also blinding him in one eye, while also covering his face in angry red burns, which he covers with a red samurai mask resembling a snarling dragon.

Details to be added in the future.

Backstory

Heralding from a section of the Roads of Gaia that worshipped dragons as gods, Bai Long was curious when General Drake seemingly managed to turn dragons from mere myth to living creatures.

Journeying far from his homeland, Bai Long managed to prove himself to General Drake, and joined his Dragon Riders – humans that swore both to help the newborn dragons integrate into human culture and protect innocents from the dreaded demi-wolves, which were running rampant across the Roads.

Bai Long was paired with the water dragon Jackknife, and though the two had an overall cordial relationship, Bai Long was unnerved by Jackknife’s preference for fighting, even though his water powers meant he was skilled in healing as well.

Jackknife’s preferences would come back to bite them in Book Three, where (SPOILER ALERT), Bai Long was burned badly by a rogue dragon, and Jackknife failed to heal him.

Resentful over the burn, Bai Long’s loyalty to Drake has become shaky, for his view on dragons has been shattered and corrupted by both their willingness to turn on humans for their own ends, and the incompetence of the few who still seem loyal.

Abilities

Personality

Soft-spoken, Bai Long tends to let his actions speak more than his words.

Normally reasonable, but capable of a temper when provoked, he holds a cautious viewpoint of dragons, having grown up on legends and myths of them being both benevolent gods and violent monsters.

Only time will tell on whether his beliefs will be broken by the realities of the dragons Drake has created, or if they may yet be able to live up to Bai Long’s expectations.
